TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR EDUCATION REASONS IN PANAMA

The Student Visa application’s cost comprises the followingexpenses: (notarial, registry, stamps, transactional, transportation, certificates, kinship certificate, SNM registration, etc. including processing card, residence card, and multiple visa) and the legal fees.

The total cost amounts to US$ 1,001.00. Below we break down the cost::

Expenses:

The total cost ofApplicant Expenses is US$301.00. Breakdown below:

• Expenses in the National Immigration Service: US$ 241.00 (two hundred and forty-one US dollars).
• Transactional expenses: US$ 60,00 (sixty US dollars).

Legal fees:
The total cost of the Applicant's Legal Fees is US$700.00 (seven hundred US dollars). Not IVA included.

The total cost does not include the payment of:

• Certified check for US$ 250.00 (two hundred and fifty US dollars) in favor of the National Treasury.

The requirements to apply for the Student Visaare the following::

1. Power of Attorney and Application (notarized). A legal representative is not required
2. Three (3) passport-sized photographs.
3. Duly revised passport copy (Notarized or corresponding Authentication).
4. Criminal Record Certificate if you are of legal age duly apostilled. There are cases in which this type of document does not exist in the applicant’s country of origin, in which case the interested party must provide a certification from a Diplomatic Agent or Consular Agent of their country of origin accredited in the Republic of Panama, said certification must ratify the non-existence of said certificate in the applicant's country of origin.
5. Health certificate.
6. Certified check for two hundred and fifty american dollars (US$250.00) in favor of the National Treasury.
7. Personal History Affidavit Form.
8. Letter of Admission from the Educational Center (preferably recently issued).
9. Tuition payment receipt from the Educational Center (original and copy).
10. Certificate from the educational center , containing the following information:
    1. Applicant’s general information.
    2. Duration of the course to be attended by the applicant.
    3. Schedule and the subjects or assignments enrolled in according to the study plan by the applicant.

NOTE: In the case of a university degree and if it is taught exclusively at night, a certification from the Educational Center that certifies that this degree is only taught at night must be provided.

11. Applicant proof of economic solvency or proof of who is responsible for the applicant’s economic support. Solvency will be verified by one of the following documents:
    11. Document that proves that the student holds a scholarship.
    12. Proof of Financing.
    13. Bank letter in favor of the applicant or the person responsible, indicating solvency consistent with the expenses that must be borne to cover the costs of studies and livelihood.
12. Letter of Responsibility (in the case of a responsible third party).

OBSERVATION: If it is a minor, the application must be submitted by the parents or the person who has custody, for which, in addition to the requirements established in this article, the following other requirements must be provided:

1. Minor’s birth certificate duly apostilled.
2. Copy of identity card or current immigration card of the responsible person in Panama.

In the case of extending this permit, the previous requirements will be presented except for the Criminal Record Certificate and the check. Additionally, you must provide:

1. Official credits of the previous year (approved). It can only be requested if the course has been approved.

NOTE: This permit must be renewed annually, and its holder can renew it up to 6 times.

The cost of a Student Visa will depend on the expenses demanded as part of the requirements that the interested party must present. To this, we must add the attorneys who manage the case. However, it is important to mention that this permit does not require representation by an attorney.

A foreigner can study in Panama if they process the application for a Student Permit.For this, they need to comply with the requirements established by the legislation. It is important to mention that to apply for this visa; they must already be admitted and enrolled (that is, proof of payment of the tuition) in an educational center in Panama, as well as the certificate of the study center that contains the general information of the applicant, and information on the career, the schedules, subjects enrolled in according to the study plan. 

An important aspect that will be requested is proof of their economic solvency, verifiable by presenting some documents.

The resolution time of the Student Visa depends on the government's response, which can take between three and twelve (3-12) months, depending on the internal circumstances of the institution.
